About Sarah Jenkins

Sarah joined Onbelai in March 2019. She previously spent six years at a mid-sized accounting firm in Dyce. She doesn't waste time with vague projections. Instead, she digs into your ledger to find exactly where your cash is going. Her approach is built on plain English finance. She believes that if a founder cannot explain their numbers to a 14-year-old, they aren't ready for a pitch.

Over the last 11 months, Sarah has built 34 financial models for software startups in the North East. She focuses on the metrics that actually matter to investors, like your CAC and LTV ratios. One local app developer worked with her for three weeks and identified £4,200 in monthly subscription waste. She provides clear numbers and no guesswork. Her spreadsheets are designed to be used, not just filed away.

Sarah is the lead on our investment readiness track. She makes sure your pitch deck and your actual bank statements tell the same story. This involves a deep audit of your burn rate and runway. Most clients she takes on are fully prepped for an investor meeting within 7 weeks of their first session. She is blunt about what works and what doesn't. If your business model has a hole in it, she will point it out before an investor does.

She holds a degree in Finance from the University of Aberdeen and is a regular at the Silver Fin tech meetups. She knows the local startup scene is shifting away from oil and gas and into pure-play tech. Sarah helps founders navigate that transition without losing their shirts. She keeps her client list small, usually working with only 8 active accounts at any one time to ensure she knows every line item in their accounts.

By the way, she is quite strict about documentation. She expects your receipts to be digitised before the first Tuesday of every month. It might seem tedious at first, but it is the only way to stay investor-ready. She has seen 14 different deals almost fall apart because of messy paperwork. She makes sure that never happens to our clients.
